Miss Claudette has an extra-ordinary nest she doesn’t want to share,
so when a band of birds decide to call it home, she takes matters into
her own hands and what follows is fun and frolics.
This funny and whimsical story reminds us that what we have is not
always what really matters.
TARGET AGE
It is aimed at 4 to 8 year olds.
TEXT AND ILLUSTRATIONS
Miss Claudette’s Nest is packed with lots of visual and textual humour
that will engage and excite the reader from the beginning.
It is written with playful language, including alliterations and emotive
expressions, making it a particularly entertaining and performative story
to read out loud.
The unique and captivating illustrations are hand constructed with paper
using collage techniques. The images are inspired by 17 th century France
(imagine over-the-top everything!) and are a mixture of hand drawn,
found illustrations and photographs.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Rosalie is a textile artist living and practising in North Fitzroy.
She has a keen interest in fashion and costume history and loves making
collages and soft sculptures.
The fundamental philosophy of her art practice is to use re-use, re-
purpose and re-cycle materials wherever possible. It reflects her deep
concern for textile waste.
Miss Claudette’s Nest is Rosalie’s first self-published children’s picture
book. It was printed in Melbourne with the intention to support local
business.
