Smith & Daughters ignores everything you thought you new about plant-based flavour and cooking. Shannon Martinez and Mo Wyse set out to build a restaurant that’s fun and full of life with a rock and roll vibe, and where good food is served – that happens to be vegan. The pair use innovation and whimsical methods to create dishes and flavors that aren’t the norm for vego/vegan food. Throughout the book Smith & Daughters offer over 80 delicious vegan recipes with a Spanish twist to recreate at home. The recipes give new inventive life to classics that will appeal to meat and vegetarian eaters alike.
Smith & Daughters on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy began in 2014. Food lovers went nuts. They grew to 40 staff and were doing 400 covers a night. In July 2015, they opened Smith & Deli, in nearby Moor Street an all vegan convenience store and deli. The idea here is a carefully curated selection of all vegan groceries, and freshly made pastries, salads and take-home vegan meals.
